It was fantastic to welcome teddies from the newly formed White Horse WI to the Museum....
and they even brought their humans with them.
As you can see, Archie and Jumbo were left completely exhausted with all the excitement.

What a wonderful afternoon for a teddy bear's picnic in the perfect setting of St Mary's, Uffington. Teddies and their families enjoyed the sun, cake and soft drinks. Archie and Jumbo would love to have joined them but they were on duty in the museum (don't worry, they had their own picnic before the museum opened!).

It was a pleasure to attend the Betjeman Society's AGM yesterday. The Venerable David Meara (5th from right) was voted President of the Society. David gave a wonderful talk in Uffington last year on Sir John Betjeman. To David's right is Steve Jackson, Chair of the Society. Friends may recall Steve attended our opening day event earlier this year.

Preparing for next winter -- and in the age of increasing heating costs -- the Museum has installed four new, efficient radiators. Funding from South East Museum Development and the White Horse Show has helped in the purchase of these hi-tech radiators.
Thanks to the men from Cotswold Heating who carried out a very smooth installation.

This year, to commemorate and celebrate Richard Jefferies' 175th birthday, a grand walk is planned to explore the nature of "Jefferies' Land", and record it all in a book. The route starts from Jefferies' grave in Worthing and take us via all the main places where he lived in his short life, ending up back at his birthplace in Swindon on his 175th birthday - 6th November 2023.
But don't worry, we're not trying to walk the whole thing in one go, and not on our own.
The walk will pass Uffington - will you join us?
