Opening Times:
The Museum is open from 2pm to 5pm each Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from Easter until the end of October. There is no charge for admission during normal opening hours.

The Museum is about 50 metres along the road from the church at the junction of Broad Street and the Fernham Road. You can park on the road outside the church.

By Car

If you have your own transport the area is easily approached from the west and north via the A420 Swindon to Oxford road, from the east via Wantage, and from the M4 via Wantage. Follow the road signs for Uffington.

Alternatively the minor road from Lambourn to Kingston Lisle offers a route with delightful views, and crosses the Ridgeway and passes the Blowing Stone. At Kingston Lisle follow the signs for Uffington.

Public Transport

Bus services to Uffington are provided by Pulhams Coaches Monday to Saturday. Route S68 between Faringdon and Wantage. Timetable HERE...

The nearest railway station is Swindon. Train times can be obtained from National Rail Enquiries or The Trainline.com

Keen walkers could visit Uffington while walking the Ridgeway, which passes within 3 km of the village. The National Trails office has a very informative site about the ancient path.

Amenities

Because of the size of the museum, we are unable to provide refreshments or toilet facilities ourselves, but there are cream teas at St Mary’s Church, next door to the Museum, on Sunday afternoons from June to the end of September, 3pm to 5.30pm.

Disabled Access

 Inside the Museum, most of the displays, the computer for visitor use, and the Museum archives are on the ground floor. The permanent gallery exhibition is on a mezzanine floor which is reached by a flight of stairs.

Because of the age and position of the Museum building, people who are using wheelchairs or who have difficulty climbing steps will need assistance to get to the entrance. Between the road and the Museum there are four steps and a new paved path suitable for people walking two abreast -  a handrail is situated to the right. The Museum doorway is 74 cm wide at its narrowest point. See pictures here...
